The Association of Female and Male Lawyers of Buenos Aires (AABA) expressed its “concern” this Wednesday over the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that modifies the National Intelligence Law and urged Congress to “reject it for violating the National Constitution.” The president of the entity, Juan Pablo Zanetta, stated that the DNU makes profound changes to the Intelligence System “without complying with the indispensable parliamentary debate and expands the powers of the State Intelligence Secretariat to the detriment of the individual liberties of citizenship.”
The Commissions on Constitutional Law and on Criminal Policy and Security of the Association of Lawyers “have exhaustively analyzed the norm and it is for this reason that we conclude that DNU 941/2025 exceeds the framework of art. 99.3 of the National Constitution, injures fundamental rights and weakens democratic institutions,” it was indicated in a communiqué accessed by the Argentine News Agency.
“The possibility of detaining people without due judicial control attacks public liberties and erodes the Rule of Law, this type of excessive attributions to Intelligence bodies are improper of liberal governments, insisted Zanetta.
